Vigilant Aerospace’s CEO, Kraettli L. Epperson, served on two panels during InterDrone 2018. Our discussion on the panel, “The Future of Chips and Sensors Powering Next-Gen Drones,” on September 5, 2018, included a wide-ranging discussion of how we incorporate new sensors into our system for aircraft detection and tracking and how we use on-board computing power to maintain a model of the airspace surrounding our UAS and calculate and perform avoidance maneuvers. In addition, we discussed the evolution of these sensors, emerging trends and future directions:

During our participation in the Friday, September 7th, 2018 panel, “Drones and the Power of Artificial Intelligence,” we especially focused on the many ways that artificial intelligence and machine learning can impact both the general performance and capabilities of unmanned aircraft and specifically how they are rapidly impacting detect-and-avoid capabilities and airspace management systems, like FlightHorizon: Couldn’t set a meeting time at InterDrone? Update from InterDrone 9/6/2018:

Vigilant Aerospace is honored to have been invited to speak at the 2018 International Drone Conference & Exposition (InterDrone) in Las Vegas, Nevada. On Tuesday, September 5 (day one), our CEO, Kraettli Epperson joined industry experts in discussing important drone technologies in “The Future of Chips and Sensors Powering Next-Gen Drones.” Thank you to everyone who joined us for the first panel session! Tomorrow, Friday, September 7, Epperson will be on the “Drones and the Power of Artificial Intelligence” at 11:30 AM. Read more about these sessions. These presentations mark the 4th major speaking engagement since May by Vigilant Aerospace at some of the nation’s leading drone industry conferences. Previously, in 2018, Vigilant Aerospace has spoken at Xponential, Drone Focus Conference (watch a 5 min 13 sec video of our presentation: “How to Manage Integrated Airspaces: Real World Experiences Flying with NASA”), 12th UAS Summit & Expo (watch a 17 min 51 sec video of our presentation: “New Models for Integration of UAS Into the NAS: Airspace Management as a Service”), InterDrone, and the upcoming UAS Tech Forum in Oklahoma. There have been a number of exciting advancements and developments at Vigilant Aerospace in recent weeks including beginning initial work with partners on the North Dakota and Alaska UAS Integration Pilot Programs (IPP), the upcoming release of our FlightHorizon 2.0 platform, and becoming a founding sponsor of the new DronePort Network. We welcome questions and would love to take some time to discuss how we might help you plan and design the right solution for your drone services platform, UAS operations, or your UAS business park or drone port. There is still time to meet with us at InterDrone! If you would like to schedule an appointment to discuss any current or future projects that require an airspace safety and management system, please contact us ASAP!

About Vigilant Aerospace Systems

Vigilant Aerospace is the leading developer of detect-and-avoid and airspace management software for uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS or drones). The company’s product, FlightHorizon, is based on two NASA patents and uses data from multiple sources to display a real-time picture of the air traffic around a UAS and to provide automatic avoidance maneuvers to prevent collisions. The software is designed to meet industry technical standards, to provide automatic safety and to allow UAS to safely fly beyond the sight of the pilot. The software has won multiple industry awards and the company has had contracts and users at NASA, the FAA, the U.S. Department of Defense and with a variety of drone development programs.
