Epperson’s presentation, titled “Results from Real BVLOS Flights and Next Steps in Development of Innovative Detect-and-Avoid for BVLOS UAS Flight,” is scheduled for 10:10-10:30 am CT on Thursday, October 14 and will discuss the state of development of detect-and-avoid systems for unmanned aircraft to allow for safe beyond visual line-of-sight (BVLOS) flight of both large and small unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in the United States.
Results from Real BVLOS Flights and Next Steps in Development of Innovative Detect-and-Avoid for BVLOS UAS Flight
a 2021 UAS Summit & Expo presentation
This session will review the state of development of detect-and-avoid systems for unmanned aircraft to allow for safe BVLOS flight of both large and small UAS in the United States, including actual waivered BVLOS flights, technologies used, software and hardware integration, field test results and fully install systems in use today, with photos and analysis.
The presentation will review real BVLOS projects and results that are leading the way to effective, practical detect-and-avoid systems and discuss the mix of processes and technologies necessary to create an effective safety system for UAS.
The session will conclude with insights into industry next steps, the changing regulatory landscape and rapidly emerging industry opportunities.
The UAS Summit & Expo an annual conference focused on the unmanned aircraft systems industry which started as a small gathering of regional stakeholders. The UAS Summit & Expo started as a small gathering of regional stakeholders. Now, 15 years later, the event in the Northern Plains of North Dakota has become a yearly major event for UAS experts from around the world. It’s the original epicenter of drone research, earned its place as the Silicon Valley of Drones and as you’ll see from the commercial, government and military flight activity filling the sky of the Northern Plains and beyond every day.
