Unmanned Systems Technology (UST) has published new coverage of the radar infrastructure supporting Vigilant Aerospace Systems’ FlightHorizon TEMPO airspace management system at the Infinity One Oklahoma Spaceport in western Oklahoma.

The article, “Advanced Detection & Surveillance Radar Infrastructure Goes Live at Oklahoma Spaceport,” highlights the integration of DeTect HARRIER surveillance radar into the airspace management network. The system provides real-time tracking of cooperative and non-cooperative aircraft across thousands of square kilometers.

FlightHorizon TEMPO is a cloud-hosted airspace management system designed to support beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) operations and advanced air mobility (AAM) development. It provides a live view of surrounding air traffic, trajectory predictions, conflict alerts and detect-and-avoid capabilities for long-range autonomous flight operations.

The UST article includes comments from Vigilant Aerospace CEO Kraettli L. Epperson, who described viewing live air traffic over western Oklahoma through the browser-based system. He also discussed how the infrastructure can support large UAS development, AAM testing and autonomous space launch activity planned at the facility.

The radar network is part of a broader effort involving the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics, Infinity One Oklahoma Spaceport, the Oklahoma Preserving Rural Economic Prosperity Fund, DeTect and NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center. The project is intended to expand the infrastructure available for advanced aircraft testing and future operational flights in Oklahoma.

About Vigilant Aerospace Systems

Vigilant Aerospace is the leading developer of multi-sensor detect-and-avoid and airspace management software for uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS or drones). The company’s product, FlightHorizon, is based on two NASA patents and uses data from multiple sources to display a real-time picture of the air traffic around a UAS and to provide automatic avoidance maneuvers to prevent collisions. The software is designed to meet industry technical standards, to provide automatic safety and to allow UAS to safely fly beyond the sight of the pilot. The software has won multiple industry awards and the company has had contracts and users at NASA, the FAA, the U.S. Department of Defense and with a variety of drone development programs.
