UAS Magazine has published coverage of Vigilant Aerospace Systems’ deployment of the FlightHorizon TEMPO airspace management system at the Oklahoma Air and Space Port in Burns Flat, Oklahoma.
The article examines how the system supports the development and testing of advanced uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS), autonomous spacecraft and other emerging aviation technologies.
The deployment includes multiple long-range airspace surveillance radars and transponder receivers connected to the cloud-based FlightHorizon TEMPO system. This infrastructure provides a live view of the surrounding airspace, tracks cooperative and non-cooperative aircraft, issues automatic conflict alerts and preserves detailed flight data for later review.
FlightHorizon TEMPO currently provides coverage across approximately 5,000 square kilometers around the facility, with future expansion planned to reach roughly 10,000 square kilometers. The system is designed to support long-distance and beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operations without relying exclusively on chase aircraft or large groups of ground observers.
The project is part of Oklahoma’s broader effort to develop the Oklahoma Air and Space Port as a national location for advanced flight testing and operational validation. The facility is expected to support military and civilian UAS development, advanced air mobility testing and future autonomous space launch activity.
