Integration of UAS into National Airspace: Detect and Avoid (DAA) Solutions for Beyond Visual-Line-of-Sight

Vigilant Aerospace Systems will be presenting at this week’s AUVSI XPONENTIAL 2016 conference in New Orleans. The title of the presentation is “Integration of UAS into National Airspace: Detect and Avoid (DAA) Solutions for Beyond Visual-Line-of-Sight.” The presentation is at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 4 on stage at the Canadian Pavilion, booth #1821.

Evaluating Unmanned Aerial System Detect-and-Avoid Solutions

The presentation is part of Unmanned Systems Canada’s technical talk series taking place at the Canadian Pavilion throughout the conference. Vigilant Aerospace was invited to present as a part of the Canadian governments efforts to evaluate UAS detect-and-avoid solutions required to meet upcoming regulation of UAS in national airspace, a concern for flight safety when flying commercial UAS with existing manned aircraft, and the advent of beyond-visual-line-of-sight flying of commercial UAS for tasks like infrastructure inspection and emergency response.

XPONENTIAL 2016 – Trade Show and Conference of AUVSI

XPONENTIAL 2016 is the annual trade show and conference of AUVSI, The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International. AUVSI is the world’s largest nonprofit organization devoted exclusively to advancing the unmanned systems and robotics community. AUVSI serves more than 7,500 members from government organizations, industry and academia.

About Vigilant Aerospace Systems

Vigilant Aerospace is the leading developer of detect-and-avoid and airspace management software for uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS or drones). The company’s product, FlightHorizon, is based on two NASA patents and uses data from multiple sources to display a real-time picture of the air traffic around a UAS and to provide automatic avoidance maneuvers to prevent collisions. The software is designed to meet industry technical standards, to provide automatic safety and to allow UAS to safely fly beyond the sight of the pilot. The software has won multiple industry awards and the company has had contracts and users at NASA, the FAA, the U.S. Department of Defense and with a variety of drone development programs.
